Our Story
Amie Williams is the founder and president of Sanctuary House, a nascent women’s shelter committed to healing hearts and changing lives. Through this work, Sanctuary House seeks to assist those seeking escape from the vicious cycle of domestic violence. As a former victim of domestic violence herself, Amie received much support from her family and friends as she sought escape and recovery. However, many women do not have such a support system, and Sanctuary House hopes to fill that need.
Like many women, Amie is also a single parent. However, she found stability in her professional work and service to others. She obtained an Associate of Business Administration (ABA) degree from Strayer University and has worked in accounting in various roles (payroll, accounts payable, and receivables) for over two decades. Plus, she has been a ministry partner at Living Way Bible Ministries for over twenty years, providing help to those who seek Biblical instruction and guidance. She is also a member of New Covenant Women Ministries, an organization that empowers women to be their best selves.
Perhaps more notably to some, Amie recently served on the jury for what is now being dubbed the trial of the century, the Murdaugh double murder case. Due to national interest in the trial, Amie has been interviewed on the Today Show and Dateline, discussing her thoughts on the jury’s guilty verdict.
